Hi gang. Work was open normal hours today, and we were actually fairly productive. Yesterday, all we did was watch CNN. We could still see the smoke rising across Raritan Bay. The remaining members of my family have checked in, and all are OK, even my cousins who were in New York City. I've heard lots of tales of close calls from co-workers. Let's just remember the ones who are not so lucky. Two of my Capri-driving friends who convoyed with me to Ohio a couple of weeks ago are busy in the rescue efforts. Heroes, if you asked me. Think of it this way: every person recovered alive is a victory. I've heard again from Kevin Smith in the Air Force. They're having long days, but obviously, they're not telling what they're up to. The AT&T network handled a record 431 million calls yesterday. That's 101 million more than the previous record. It's pretty much a miracle that only 60 million were blocked. Almost all of our equipment is intact. There's a rumor going around that even the two switches in the WTC survived somehow, and are simply powered down. I'll see if I can confirm that. The quote for the day is from Admiral Isoruku Yamamoto. For those of you who are not naval history fans, he was ordered, against his recommendation, to plan and execute the attack on Pearl Harbor. Yamamoto had actually argued against starting a war with the United States. He was one of the few people in the Japanese military to have visited the United States. After the attack, he is said to have said: "I fear we have awakened the sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve." David R. Wells "There seems to be something wrong | David R.
