Luarca is a fishing village of about 7500 people.

Our first glimpse of Luarca, from the road by the cemetary.

It seems almost like a model railroad scene.

A passer by alerts us to the cemetary nearby. "The most beautiful in Spain", she says.

Luarca's sea-going heritage is evident in this panel, one of 14, near the cemetary.

Even in the fog, the view from the lighthouse road is captivating.

Only a few hundred residents actually fish on a regular basis. Spanish tourism is the big item.

The houses rise steeply from the harbor.
