Membership Application
Article I - Name:
The name of the Club shall be the "Capri Club of Chicago".
Article II - Purpose:
The general purpose of this organization shall be ;
- To encourage and promote the preservation, ownership, care and
operation of the Capri and other small related cars manufactured by the
Ford Motor Company.
- To unite in the organization all owners of Capri automobiles
interested in maintaining their cars in a manner that will promote
admiration and respect in the community.
- To encourage and promote driving skill, sportsmanship, safety,
and enjoyment of motoring of all types.
- The Capri Club of Chicago is a nonpartisan organization and
membership eligibility is open to all.
- The Capri Club of Chicago shall be a nonprofit organization.
Article III - Membership:
Section 1;
Eligibility for membership in this Club shall be
restricted to those interested in furthering the purposes of this Club
as described in Article II.
Section 2;
Membership in this Club is a privilege and is subject to termination at
any time as provided in Section 3 of thie Article.
Section 3;
- Membership shall expire for non-payment of dues on March 31 of
each year.
- Membership may be suspended for any infraction of Club rules
or for any actions or activities which are not in the best interests of
the Club.
- Suspension of membership will be carried out by the Club
president and he shall inform the affected member(s) in writing of the
reasons for said suspension and give those members a reasonable time to
be heard by the Club officers. Suspension will no
t be final or permanent until voted on by the Club officers.
- Any member may resign by directing a letter of resignation to the
Club secretary.
Section 4;
Those members who have paid their dues prior to
January 1, 1975, shall be designated "Charter Members", and to be so
designated on any Club identification. No additional rights or
privileges will be available to said members.
Article IV - Membership and Voting Rights:
Section 1;
- Full members are entitled to all general rights and privileges
provided by the Club. And ONLY Full members are entitled to a discount
at Club events where a fee is charged. And ONLY Full members are
entitled to participation at no extra charge at a
ny special event that is paid for in part or in full by the Club.
- Auxiliary members are entitled to all general rights and
privileges provided by the Club. Auxiliary members may upgrade to Full
members at any time.
- Family membership is offered to husband and wife so they can
both join the Club at the same charge as one Full member. Family
members are entitled to the same rights as Full members.
Section 2;
- All members are entitled to one vote in all Club elections and
referendums.
- For voting purposes, each Family membership shall be entitled to
only one vote, not two.
Article V - Dues and Fees
Section 1;
Annual dues for all members will be determined by
the officers and directors (if any) and shall be subject to approval by
the majority vote of the Club membership.
Section 2;
The fiscal year shall begin January 1.
Section 3;
No additional assessments will be levied on Club members unless
approved by a majority vote of the Club membership.
Section 4;
All dues and fees collected shall be used for the
benefit of all members and subject to approval by a majority vote of
the members.
Section 5;
A treasurer's report will be made at least monthly.
Section 6;
Half year dues will be available from the October meeting until March
31 at a fee to be determined.
Article VI - Meetings:
Section 1;
A general meeting for all Club members will be held monthly at a place
to be determined.
Section 2;
Written notice stating date, time, and place of all
meetings shall be delivered to each member in good standing at least
five (5) days before the meeting.
Section 3;
All elections and decisions concerning normal
business and activities, except amendments to these bylaws, shall be
determined by a majority vote of the members present and voting at
these meetings.
Article VII - Officers and Elections;
Section 1;
Elected officers of the Club shall be; President, Vice-president,
Secretary, Treasurer, and Steward.
Section 2;
- The term of each officer will start on February 1 or a date
designated by the senior elected officer.
- The term of each office for all officers will be one year or
until a successor is elected or appointed.
- No individual shall hold more than one office at a time.
- Any officer may be removed from office by a majority vote of the
membership
- Vacancies in any office shall be filled for the unexpired term
by nomination and vote of the membership. For vacancies with an
unexpired term of less then six (6) months remaining, the
vice-president will assume the office for the remainder of the te
rm.
Section 3;
- Nominations and elections of Club officers shall take place at
the
Club's monthly business meetings. The nominations and elections will be
at least four (4) weeks apart. Nominations will be held between October
1 and December 1.
- A maximum of three (3) full members will be nominated for each
office.
- Each member is allowed to nominate one full member for each
office. If more than three(3) members are nominated for an office, a
vote using secret ballot will be held immediately with the three (3)
members receiving the most votes appearing on the ba
llot.
- A member may not be nominated for more than two (2) offices.
- All members have the rights to decline any and/or all
nominations.
- Election ballots will be delivered to all members at least ten
(10) days before the election meeting and they must be marked and
returned as instructed before the stated deadline to be counted.
- The election winners will be determined by a majority of the
votes cast. In the case of a tie, a run-off election will be held
immediately at the meeting with the winner decided by a majority of the
votes cast.
Section 4;
The president shall make such other appointments as
are timely and desirable, and shall outline the duties,
responsibilities, and term of office of such appointees. These special
officers will be subject to removal as outlined in Section 2 of this
Artic
le.
Article VIII - Duties of Officers
Section 1;
The President will; 1) Preside at all meetings, 2)
Officially represent the Club in all affairs, 3) Cast the deciding vote
in case of ties at officers meetings, 4) Call officers meetings, 5)
Appoint standing and temporary committees, 6) Co-sign with othe
r proper officers, all deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts, or other
instruments concerning the Club, 7) Check to see that all officers are
fulfilling the duties of their office.
Section 2;
The Vice-President will, 1) Preside over meetings
in the absence of the president, 2) Perform duties of the president in
his absence, 3) Be chairman of the membership committee, 4) Perform
official duties as designated by the president.
Section 3;
The Secretary will; 1) Keep a record of all
general and officer meetings, 2) Maintain an up to date roster of all
members, 3) Advise all members of meetings, elections, and special Club
business and events.
Section 4;
The Treasurer will; 1) Subject to such
restrictions and conditions as may be made by the board of officers,
have custody of all monies, debts, and obligations belonging to the
Club, 2) Collect and give an accurate record for all funds, 5) Render
an oral treasurer's report at all officers and general business
meetings, 6) Prepare an annual statement of income and expenses for all
Club officers, 7) Prepare annual corporate and income tax forms as
required by law, 8) Act as advisor to the president on all financial matters.
Section 5;
The Steward will; 1) Act as the Club
representative at all competition events, 2) Represent the Club at
sanctioning body meetings.
Article IX - Amendment of These bylaws
Section 1;
These bylaws should be reviewed annually by the officers and
recommendations for changes submitted to the membership.
Section 2;
A proposal to amend these bylaws may be submitted
by any member by sending it in writing to the Club and then it will be
submitted to the membership at large.
Section 3;
Notice of and ballots for proposed amendments to
these bylaws will be delivered to all members by the secretary at least
ten (10) days prior to the general meeting at which said amendment is
to be voted upon.
Section 4;
Amendments to these bylaws become effective immediately upon the
affirmative vote of two thirds (2/3) of the ballots cast.
Article X - Amendments
Amendment 1;
As of December 15, 1977, by vote of the Club
membership; the Club Steward will perform the duties of the offices of
both Steward and Vice-President as defined in Article VIII, Sections 2
and 5. The office of Vice-President will remain vacant until this
amendment is revoked by the membership.
Amendment 2;
As of January 1, 1987, the first amendment to these bylaws is revoked
by vote of the membership.
