Mt. Baker Council met on Sept. 9, 2009.  It was noted the Fair Chairman and Float Coordinator positions are vacant.

The fall council dance is scheduled for October 24th with a theme of “When You Wish upon a Star”.  Brent Mawdsley is calling and Randy Preskitt is cueing.  It will be held at the Skagit Valley Grange from 8 to 10:30 with pre-rounds at 7:30 pm.  I have presale tickets available for $6 each.  The Rainbow Squares are the hosting club.

The Skagit Squares are scheduled to host the spring council dance.  I’ve reported to the council that we are currently planning on a May 23, 2010 afternoon dance depending on hall availability.

Mt. Baker Council will host the State Federation Meeting on September 19th with dances on both Friday and Saturday evenings with pre-rounds at 7:30 pm and square dancing from 8 to 10:30 pm.  A variety of state callers and cuers will handle the program.  Doug Keyes from our council will be reinstalled as the state president for a second term.

A motion to participate in the Monroe Fair next year was tabled until next month’s meeting.  Delegates are to solicit input from their clubs.  The council approved purchasing 250 more square dance movement booklets for distribution to new dancers.  Entertainment Books are available again.  If anyone is interested in one, please let me know.

Thank you to the Skagit Squares for regularly advertising in Council Notes.  They broke even financially with this publication last season.
