The meeting was called to order
by pres. Don Herbaugh at 7:30, after a hot potluck dinner.
MINUTES were approved as read.

REPORT: Council Delegate Report for Skagit
Squares’ Sept. 16, 2009 General
Meeting (Short summary of last council meeting)
Mt. Baker Council met on Sept. 9, 2009. It was noted the Fair Chairman and Float Coordinator positions are vacant.
The fall council dance is scheduled for October 24th with a theme of “When You Wish upon a Star”. Brent Mawdsley is calling and Randy Preskitt is cueing. It will be held at the Skagit Valley Grange from 8 to 10:30 with pre-rounds
at 7:30 pm. I have
presale tickets available for $6 each. The Rainbow Squares are the hosting club.
The Skagit Squares are scheduled to host the spring council dance. I’ve
reported to the council that we are currently planning on a May 23, 2010 afternoon dance depending on hall availability.
Mt. Baker Council will host the State Federation Meeting on September 19th with dances on both Friday and Saturday
evenings with pre-rounds at 7:30 pm and square dancing from 8 to 10:30 pm. A
variety of state callers and cuers will handle the program. Doug Keyes from our
council will be reinstalled as the state president for a second term.
A motion to participate in the Monroe Fair next year was tabled until next month’s meeting. Delegates are to solicit input from their clubs. The council
approved purchasing 250 more square dance movement booklets for distribution to new dancers.
Entertainment Books are available again. If anyone is interested in one,
please let me know.
Thank you to the Skagit Squares for regularly advertising in Council Notes. They
broke even financially with this publication last season.

New lessons: There are around 30 new students for Tuesday night lessons.

SKAGIT SQUARES will host the
spring council dance, May 23rd. (Sunday afternoon) at the Skagit Valley Grange.
Further plans for the theme, decorating and caller will be discussed at a future Board meeting.
Helen Herbaugh has resigned as
the coordinator for Monday Nighters. At this time it is still up in the air about
the up coming season for Monday Nighters, due to the drastic increase in hall rent.

Skagits were asked if they wanted
to participate in the MV Christmas Parade on November 29. Due to the weather
it was MSP that we decline.
It was MSP that the Skagits renew
membership in the Sedro Woolley Chamber of Commerce for one more year.

ADDITION TO THE SEPT. MINUTES:
Round dance lessons are now on
schedule, starting Oct. 5th 7-8:30 at the Mount Vernon Senior Center...in the craft room.
