I have tried several different engines to power my projects, with limited success. My goal is to come up with a low cost,
light weight, reliable, fuel-efficient power source. Not an easy task.

25 hp Kohler on my Blue Tail Hawk, not quite enough thrust. |

This is a Corvair engine conversion I built from the Ultravair plans. It needs more development. |

38 hp Generac mounted on my ThunderGull. |
As of Oct, 2007 the Generac looks very promising. For the Thunder Gull, it has plenty of thrust as a direct drive spinning
a 54" Culver prop. I re-worked it so the weight is around 80 pounds. I plan to try it on my Blue Tail Hawk next.
I have been reporting on the development of the direct drive Generac to the "Small4-strokeEngine" Yahoo group. If interested,
search thru the message archive on that site for those reports. Search on "ThunderGull/Generac".

electric power, maybe the best yet, at least for the Red Tail Hawk. |
