      Tim Warner
      Tampa, FL
      Tim started a
project with his 51 Studebaker Commander 4 Door Sedan that most of us
could never even imagine. After checking and locating a Mitsubishi Eclipse
roof, he cut the roof off of his Stude. The contour of the rear window in
the Mitsubishi top fits the contour of the Studebaker deck lid almost
perfectly. Tim mounted the body (now a 2 door) on a custom made tube frame
and installed a small block Chevrolet with an overdrive transmission.
      To follow the
X-51 theme, Tim added a jet engine exhaust out the back and some aircraft
instruments to the dash. I was looking forward to seeing this car done,
but Tim let me know that it was sold to someone that resides in
      Missouri.

Fast forward to January, 2009 and the Barrett Jackson
auction in Scottsdale, AZ. The new owner had finished the car and was
calling it the Super Sonic in the auction brochure. According to the write
up, it had been named "Car of the Year" at the Pixar Animation
      Studios Motorama.
The exterior color is Tungsten and it has a black
leather interior that is accented with brushed stainless and aluminum. It
also has full climate contol and heated seats. A Corvette engine and 5
speed AT makes it go and the exhaust exits through the Pratt & Whitney
      jet engine case.
After the hammer went down, the new owner shelled out
      $106,700.00 to take it home.
