A new drop-off recycling site has been added: Columbiana County - Highlandtown Fire Department, 18371 Steubenville Pike, just off SR 39.

Do you have dead household batteries? There are several places where you can Household batteries, including rechargable and non-rechargable batteries. The District recommends you buy rechargable batteries whenever possible. Newer NiMH batteries are just as effective in most electronics as alkaline batteries.

We have a new logo (EnviroPros, above). Since we promote the environmental benefits of waste reduction, recycling and conservation, we wanted a way to be recognized that better suited who we are and what we do; EnviroPros sums up all the ways the District can help residents, businesses and the communities throughout the District. We're also on Facebook and Twitter. The District's official name will still be the Carroll-Columbiana-Harrison Solid Waste District.

Tips for your leaves this fall. We've developed a page with some useful things you can do with your leaves.

The Malvern Recycling site has moved to the Fire Department, off North Reed Street! Follow the blue Recycling Center signs.

Wow, it's time for Christmas tree recycling again. Do you want to "recycle" your live tree?

The District is accepting more plastics at the drop off sites! #1 through #7 plastic food containers (except for styrofoam) can now be placed in the recycling bins. Items like laundry and dish soap bottles are still accepted.

If you missed the District's annual Appliance and Electronics recycling events, you can still recycle these items. A&A Tire in Carrollton (330-863-1936), Countryside Recycling in Carrollton (330-627-8130), Solomon Scrap and Salvage in Salem (330-337-0491) and Six Recycling in East Liverpool (330-385-1452) accepts appliances and scrap metals.
Recycle Tech (330-596-2613 or 330-277-7050) in Salem accepts Computers, TVs and other electronics; there is a fee for CRT TVs and monitors. The Goodwill Reconnect program in Salem (330-337-9685) and Calcutta (330-385-7998) will accept computers and computer accessories for free. Call the businesses for more information and to verify that they will accept your items.

AEP has an Appliance Recycling Program. If you have a working refrigerator or freezer, AEP will pick up your appliance and give you a rebate. Between now and August 2010, the rebate has been doubled to $50.00. See the AEP Appliance Recycling page for more information.

Do you need to compost just kitchen scraps? Try Anaerobic Composting.

If you have lead-acid batteries or used motor oil, you can always recycle them at these locations. Latex Paint is not hazardous. We have some ideas on what to do with your old latex paint.

We have added a page about Conservation, because there is more to conservation than recycling. You can use many of these ideas during your daily life.
