Welcome to the web site of The Committee for Church in Society of the West Virginia Western Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  As a working committee of the synod,  we seek to encourage justice and mercy works within the territory drawing upon Micah 6:8:  He has shown you O man what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

At the 2009 Synod Assembly, a Memorial on Mountain Top Removal was presented.  This Memorial was referred to The Committee for Church in Society for study.  To read the Memorial,  click on Mountain Top Removal on the left hand side of the screen.
