Lovers of Truth (psalm 37)

1/7/06

I have been young, now I am old

I have not seen the righteous forsaken

Needing no silver not coveting gold

They are firm on the path they have taken

And the love of God sustains them, they are free.

They won’t be shamed in evil lands

In the famine they will have abundance.

Knowing the lord has them in hand

They will thank Him for all of His goodness

And the love of God sustains them, they are free.

(chorus)

Lovers of truth, lovers of light,

Lovers of justice and mercy

Thanking the Lord, they keep Him in sight

Remembering the day that they first believed.

Wisdom will flow in a constant rebirth

And the law of the Lord they will cherish.

The humble in spirit inherit the earth

For eternity they will not perish.

And the love of God sustains them, they are free.

Salvation comes with the ultimate price

By the gift of the Lord they’re exalted

Knowing their sins are covered by Christ

Their iniquities will not be faulted

And the love of God sustains them, they are free.

(chorus)

Lovers of truth, lovers of light,

Lovers of justice and mercy

Thanking the Lord, they keep Him in sight

Remembering the day that they first believed.

All they received when they first believed.

What they received when they first believed.
