Rightly Discerning the Body
Is 5: 20 Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.
I was talking with a friend of mine the other day, and she was telling me that all of a sudden she is getting allergies.
"This is not right! I cannot be allergic to God's creation. This is not right!"
I was reminded of my own food allergies. Why is it that my body has bad reactions to milk, wheat, tuna,
and other dairy, as well as some meats, and strawberries and other fruit, yet I can "gorge" on sugar all
day?
There are many of us who are sick because our bodies are used to calling that which is good, evil, and that which is
evil, good. And we cry out to the Lord for healing and get upset with Him if we aren't healed.
(This does not pertain to my friend but it DOES pertain to many that I know.)
I'm not saying all sickness is due to what we eat, but I have to just be forthright and say that i believe most sickness
is the result of what we do to our bodies.
I sat last night eating a pasta salad. It had a lot of good nutrition in it.
As I was thanking the Lord and asking for His blessing, I was gripped with how I eat.
Seems what I used to know about right eating went out the door about a year 1/2 ago. I got away from what
I know to be right.
If I was thankful for the food the Lord provided, truly thankful, I would be mindful of what He truly
DID provide. I make jokes sometimes about the cake I eat at the baby shower, or the cookies I like
to bake. "Oh the Lord made the wheat, the sugar, the eggs, the milk - etc.."
Come on, we've all rationalized how we eat sometimes.
But the fact remains, that if we are sickly, we need to first examine ourselves.
This scripture is spiritually speaking - however - I believe that the Lords word is for COMPLETE salvation and healing
- not just in the spirit. We can take His word for our spiritual health, the health of our mind
and the health of our body.
Now, watch this:
1 Cor 11: 24-32 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take,
eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood:
this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body
and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Oh but we would say "That was for the communion table" or "Christ is speaking about HIS BODY"
But the Lord says in Matthew 25:40 "The King will answer and say to
them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did
it to Me.'
Are we not as one who is in prison, if what we eat rules us?
I'm not writing this to anyone, I'm writing what I believe I hear the Lord saying. If anyone read this and is convicted
in thier heart, then go do what the Lord is telling you. But if not convicted, then disregard this word.
However, I stand by this.
Therefore, I will begin to once again, take up the position I had once, in respect to what I eat.
That I will start calling that which is evil for me to eat, evil. And calling that which is good for
me to eat, good. And I will start commanding my body to eat what is good and reject what is
evil, so that it knows the difference between the two and will react and respond accordingly.
Father, I thank You for loving me so much that You would chasten me with this word of correction and conviction.
I begin today to once again start calling that which is evil, evil, and that which is good, good, in respect to my body.
For my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and if my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, Your Spirit,
then I am responsible for the maintenance. I am responsible not out of fear of IT, but rather fear of YOU for
when You return, I want to hear Well Done Good and Faithful servant. You have been faithful in the little things
, I will put you in charge of many things, enter into the joy of your Master" Matthew 25:21
