Praise Report 5-8

Just a note on Rob.  Yesterday, I visited Rob at the hospital.  He was up in a chair.  He had had physical therapy and occupational therapy.  They gave him a test to see if he could swallow.  They came and began to form his legs for his prostesis.  Busy day, much improvement.

Today, they are going to evaluate him to see if he is accepted to be moved to a skilled nursing care home.  He will be there until he is able to endure 3 hours a day of physical therapy.  He still has the trach tube and will have to be suctioned when he has a lot of phlegm.  The doctors say if they take it out, it will be harder for him to cough all that stuff up and they won't be able to help him with the suction.

He ate his first meal yesterday, puried turkey and mashed potatoes.  The nurse said he ate like a pig.  She also told me she pushed him around the floor in the chair he was in, it had wheels.  He wanted to get out of the room and see new scenery.

He is no longer using the tube in his stomach but they said, since he was on blood thinner because he was not moving around, they would not take it out for a while due to bleeding.  He takes everything by mouth.

Rob's Dad called last night and said he got a phone call.  It was Rob.  He was able to talk on the phone and be understood.  Rob ask him to bring him some juice.  Roy said, sure, what kind.  Rob said,"Sprite." LOL

They have now assigned a behavior specialist to help with emotional needs and dealing with the amputation.

I can not thank God enough for all of his blessings.  The hospital staff was wonderful. I can not thank every one enough for their prayers and support.

I feel like through all this I have learned the balance of faith and miracles and chastisement.  Rob was blessed to live, but had to receive from the hand of the Lord, what he felt was necessary for his spiritual growth.  It is most important that we know God and obey him.  There is an eternity to face.  God has a work for Rob to do and he seemed to be the little lamb that ran off and fell over the cliff.  If you remember, sometimes the shepard has to break a lambs legs to keep him close.

God loves our children more than we do.  He knows about eternity, he is eternity.  He knows just what they need.  He heard every prayer we prayed for Rob and when he said, "no."  He meant, "no".  Because he loves Rob.  I trust God completely to do what is best for my son.

My life is beginning to slow down a little bit.  I am beginning to get more rest and relaxation.  It will take a while.  Madeline is still reeling because she has such a difficult job, and Bo moved in my Dad's house where we live and she is having difficulty dealing with it.  She adores Bo but has issues they are both dealing with.

I pray the storm is subsiding and we will all begin to be able to relax and heal.  Again, I thank you for your prayers.  I might not send any more updates because Rob is doing so well.  But I will probably send another pic when he is up on his feet again.

God bless
