Rest

Oh Lord of my sleep

You have given me rest

For my troubled soul

Help me rise now refreshed

For I'm seldom refreshed

Upon waking

There is more that I need

Take me down to the deep

Renew strength at dawn

Take me to peaceful sleep

And when I yawn

Be to me as a medicine

That brings me close to death

But does not touch it

Come to me

Those who are weary

And I will give you rest

My yoke is easy

My burdens are light

Come to me

And find rest

I have come

Here I am

Here I am

I am weary

But I am on heightened alert

Like a watchdog in the night

I sleep

But am always watching

Lord where is my relief?

Even the military have a relief

All players have a relief

Someone to come and say

Go home today

I got this watch covered

Send someone to me

To cover my watch

Raise up the intercessors

Who have been made strong

In the battle

Send forth those who cry mercy

The battle-hewn warriors

Who oft without confidence

Charge into war repeatedly

Send them to me to lift me

And I will relieve them

When I have rested

Rested in sleep close to death

At night

While I still feel Your breath

Keeping me alive

Though I am weary

You have armed me with strength

For the day of my trouble

Through the wilderness

The edge of the wilderness

Is upon me

Captain of the Host come down

Give me mighty men and women of valor

That we could march together

Keeping step with You

But until You do… I will remember

You have armed me in battle

You have trained me for war

You have made me subdue

All my enemies before

Me

You have lifted my head

You have kept me from death

Your life shown through my eyes

Your breath was my breath

You have established my footsteps

Before foundations were laid

I went from a twinkle

To wonderfully made

It is You that avenge me

And You who has won

Though I am Your daughter

I'm also a son.

I love prophetic psalms and poetry like this.

It began with my dilemma of not being able to sleep well.   I knew it was my inheritance, but I wasn't entering in.

I sat at the keyboards to type away,  and my dilemma turned into a prayer request.

Then the Lord gave me His word in response.  "My yoke is easy and my burden is light"

And I responded back.  "Here I am"   But I still had a dilemma of lack of understanding.    "Yes but Lord you don't understand"   was what I seemed to say, as if I wasn't making myself clear.

Then I bargained with Him.  "If you give me people to pray for me, tenderhearted compassionate, merciful people who would pray for me with understanding and sympathy,  I will pray for them, too....but once I get some sleep."

But then the Lord reminds me right in the middle of the psalm,  all that He has brought me through.

He has made me an overcomer.   He will continue to be my warrior in battle for me.    My Greatest Intercessor of all.

Ps 18:28 For You will light my lamp;
The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 For by You I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.
30 As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

31 For who is God, except the LORD?
And who is a rock, except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength,
And makes my way perfect.
33 He makes my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places.
34 He teaches my hands to make war,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

35 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your right hand has held me up,
Your gentleness has made me great.
36 You enlarged my path under me,
So my feet did not slip.

37 I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them;
Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed.
38 I have wounded them,
So that they could not rise;
They have fallen under my feet.
39 For You have armed me with strength for the battle;
You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
40 You have also given me the necks of my enemies,
So that I destroyed those who hated me.
41 They cried out, but there was none to save;
Even to the LORD, but He did not answer them.
42 Then I beat them as fine as the dust before the wind;
I cast them out like dirt in the streets.

43 You have delivered me from the strivings of the people;
You have made me the head of the nations;
A people I have not known shall serve me.
44 As soon as they hear of me they obey me;
The foreigners submit to me.
45 The foreigners fade away,
And come frightened from their hideouts.

46 The LORD lives!
Blessed be my Rock!
Let the God of my salvation be exalted.
47 It is God who avenges me,
And subdues the peoples under me;
48 He delivers me from my enemies.
You also lift me up above those who rise against me;
You have delivered me from the violent man.
49 Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the Gentiles,
And sing praises to Your name.

50 Great deliverance He gives to His king,
And shows mercy to His anointed,
To David and his descendants forevermore.

Joshua 5:14He said, "No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the LORD." And Joshua (A)fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, "What has my lord to say to his servant?"

15The captain of the LORD'S host said to Joshua, "(B)Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.

Joshua 6: 1Now Jericho was tightly shut because of the sons of Israel; no one went out and no one came in. 2The LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with (A)its king and the valiant warriors.
