Oil Change Process

- warm up engine
- if necessary, raise front end with ramps or jack stands
- remove oil drain plug from pan and drain oil
- reinstall drain plug
- remove oil filter -- make sure the gasket is not stuck to the block
- prime and install new filter, tighten 3/4 to 1 turn after contact
- add all but one quart of required quantity of oil
- start engine and verify oil pressure (guage or idiot light)
- check fill level with dipstick and fill as needed
- check for leaks

What does oil do?

- cools engine parts
- lubricates engine parts
- picks up small particles and they are then trapped in the oil filter
