Native American style Flutes

FireSong Flutes

I call them "FireSong Flutes" because we play so much music

around the camp fire at 4H events and when camping privately.

NA style Flutes and how I make them

I am NOT Native American Indian but I do love so much about that way of life.

I like making the flutes because they are so beautiful to hear, so soothing.

My flutes are for 'therapy'; Relaxation and Healing!!

***** Please Exercise Caution When Routing!! *****
(and cutting, sawing, shaping, chiseling etc.)

See what I mean about the start and top points for the SAC and the bore.

Left picture: Almost there according to perfect depth gauge for a round bottom groove.
Right picture: Dead on 3/8" according to the drill bit, I mean round bottom groove depth gauge.

After the bore and SAC are deep enough, I switch to a 3/16 round-nose bit for the blow-hole.

Fence is set back to same position as marked earlier, bit depth a scant 3/32".

Blow-Hole is routed dead center on blank and aligned dead center to SAC.

Again depth is checked with my perfect 3/16" 'gauge'.
