Battle at Refuge Point (Wednesday, December 29) by Whitehorns

After questing in Uldaman, Tristessa Onoko Lazik and myself were selling items back at Undercity when we were contacted my Anko and Kisame of the guild Akatsumi. They informed us that many of their guild members were forming a raid to attack Refuge Point in the Arathi Highlands. We hopped on a bat and headed that way to find about 10 people there already grouped up. We joined up and chaos ensued.

We thought we would be fine, having reached the early 40s, should we need to engage any guards. It turned out to be more of a problem than we thought, however, because our four were the only ones who could really hit the Refuge Point sentries. We juggled guards, and Alliance players, with spells flying and pets adding to the confusion.

The battle was going very well for us. We were taking at least 3 Alliance player for every one of ours that fell, or so it seemed. Things continued in this vein, and many more Alliance players were showing up. We ended up with about 13-17 horde players at any one time, but as you can see from the screen shots, we were greatly outnumbered. We were able to hold our ground for a long time, and we even began advancing into the city itself, and we were not prepared for what happened because we did so. As we charged into the entrance of the city 8 level 45 guards spawned and laid waste to many of our group, and those who escaped did not do so at full health. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a screen shot of this part of the event because I was too busy picking my jaw up off the ground as 4 guards slaughtered me and every Horde player around me.

After the massacre by Refuge Point guards, we regrouped on the hill outside of Refuge Point. For the next 30 minutes we were forced into a defensive position as many of our players were running from the graveyard and the Alliance group seemed to grow larger by the minute. Kyrtin and Shinobi of TUFF showed up and swung things in our favor for a while, but we eventually were forced back and dispersed by the much larger Alliance force. Our group from After Life left shortly after this and decided to kill Myzrael (Level 50 Elite Elemental), which turned out to be much harder than we thought it would be, but we accomplished the task with the help of some friends.
