Gary Wayne Leary, 69 of Miracle Run, went home to be with our
Lord, on August
21, 2009 at home with family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is the son of the late Henry
and Faye Leary. He was a 1958 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School.
He worked at Sterling Faucet, Ford Motor Company, Ironworkers Local 549, and was Assistant Superintendent of the Division
of Highways in Morgantown. He was a former president of Mon/Preston Labor Council,
AFL/CIO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar racing, and golfing.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shelby Bosley Leary, three
step-sons: Melvin & Lori Swanson of Core, Roger and Teresa Swanson of Miracle Run, William Glasscock of Blacksville, one
Step-daughter: Lisa Statler of Miracle Run, three brothers: Henry and Myrtle Leary of Wakeman, Ohio, Eddie and Kay Leary of
Indiana, PA, Donnie and Nancy Leary of Daybrook, one sister: Karol and Jim Thorne of Days Run.
Ten grandchildren: Chad & Tori Swanson of Miracle Run, Eric
& Jeanie Swanson of Daybrook, Brandi & Patches Reeder of Dunkard Valley Estates, Stefani Marshall of Miracle Run,
Brittany Swanson of Core, Laura Tressler of Waynesburg, Crissy Swanson of Core, Josh Wade of California, Ashley Wade of Morgantown,
Corey Swanson of Virginia, five great-grandchildren: Emily Swanson, Kylie & Tyler Swanson, Bella Tressler & Zeke Mellinger,
and also many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Gary
was preceded in death by one son-in-law: Larry Statler, one daughter-in-law: Emma Swanson, and one stepson: Allen Swanson.
Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Inc.
on Monday August 24, 2009 from 2-4, 7-9, and again on Tuesday from 9am until the time of services at 10am with Rev.
Rose Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at the Blacksville Cemetery.
