Gordon's Favorite Recipes: Dessert

Oatmeal Cookies

This is the generic recipie for Oatmeal cookies. The cool thing about this recipe is that it is easy to make and you can vary the recipe to make different kinds of cookies. It's very forgiving so don't be afraid to experiment.

A few things to keep in mind
There are two kinds of oatmeal Quick and Old Fashioned. This recipe uses the Old Fashioned veriety.
Softened butter is butter that has been left out on the counter for about an hour. Don't try to use hard butter right out of the 'fridge.

Variations:
For variety, try one or more of the following:

  • Make chocolate chip cookies by deleting the raisins and adding a package of chocolate chips.
  • Make butterscotch cookies by deleting the raisins and adding a package of butterscotch chips. Also try replacing some of the sugar with brown sugar.
  • Use Crushed pepermint, M&M's, or other candy instead of raisins.
  • Save the last bit of breakfast cereal from when you finish a box. Use that instead of the oatmeal.
