Low Fat Brownies

Here is a low fat brownie recipe that I came up with. It is simple to make and almost fool proof since it starts with a package of store bought brownie mix. Yogurt is used instead of oil, oatmeal is used instead of eggs. Without oil or eggs these brownies are almost healthy and they loose none of their great taste.

Variations:
For variety, try one or more of the following:

  • For cake-like brownies: Add a tsp. of baking powder to the mix and bake 10 minutes longer.
  • Add nuts and/or chocolate chips, candy pieces, etc.
  • After baking and cooling, frost the brownies with prepared cake frosting.

  • 1 box of any prepared brownie mix.
  • 4 oz of vanilla yogurt.
  • ½ cup rolled oats.
  • ½ cup very hot water.
  • 1 Tbsp chocolate syrup.
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar.
Directions:
  1. Use a blender to grind the oats into a flour. Place the oat flour and hot water in a large bowl. Allow to stand several minutes.
  2. Mix the chocolate syrup, sugar and yogurt into the Oatmeal mixture.
  3. Stir in the brownie mix a little at a time.
  4. DO NOT ADD OIL. DO NOT ADD EGGS.
  5. If the batter is too dry, add a small amount of extra water or milk.
  6. Bake according to the package instructions.
