Noah was a Privet in the 15th Regiment, Company "C" of West Virginia Infantry Volunteers.

The 15th was organized at Wheeling, West Virginia, August - October, 1862. Attached to Railroad Division, West Virginia to January 1863. Sir John's Run Defenses, Upper Patomic, 8th Army Corps, Middle Department, to March 1863. 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 8th Army Corps, to June 1863. Unattached, New Creek, West Virginia, Department of West Virginia, to August, 1863. Campbell's Brigade, Scammon's Division, Department of West Virginia, to December, 1863. 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, West Virginia, to April, 1864. 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, West Virginia, April, 1864. 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, West Virginia, to July 1864. 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, West Virginia, to December, 1864. 3rd Brigade, Independent Division, 24th Army Corps, Army of the James, to June 1865.

Moved to Washington, D.C., then to Bermuda Hundred, Virginia, December 19 - 23, 1864.---Duty in the trenches before Richmond, Virginia until March 1865.---Appomattox Campaign March 28 - April 9, 1865.---Moved to front of Petersburg March 28 - 29, 1865.---Hatcher's Run March 30 - 31 and April 1, 1865.---Fall of Petersburg April 2, 1865.---Pursuit of Lee April 3 - 9, 1865.---Rice's Station April 6.---Appomattox Court House April 9.---Surrender of Lee and his army.---March to Lynchburg April 12 - 15, 1865.---Then to Farmville and Burkesville Junction April 15 - 19, 1865 and on to Richmond, Virginia April 22 - 25, 1865.---Duty near Richmond until June.---Mustered out June 14, 1865.
The 15th West Virginia Infantry Volunteers suffered 153 total casulties. 3 Officers and 50 Enlisted men were killed or mortally wounded and there were 1 Officer and 99 Enlisted men that died due to sickness or disease.
