About Us

We are a family farm in Western New York, south of Rochester, NY and west of the Finger Lakes region. Since we bought our first miniature horse in 2001, we have enjoyed the wide variety of activities that miniature horse owners pursue: showing in halter, halter-obstacle, breeding, foaling, socializing weanlings and yearlings, learning to drive and training our horses to drive, not to mention parades, pleasure drives, and therapy-type visits. We've also enjoyed the company of fellow miniature horse enthusiasts around the country, including our local miniature horse clubs (New York State Miniature Horse Club, AMHA-affiliate, and the Empire State Miniature Horse Association, AMHR-affiliate).

In recognizing that we can't "do it all" and that aging creates its own limitations, we are reducing our herd and focusing our time and energy on driving competitions and perhaps occasionally making a proven driving horse for sale. We will continue to provide expert care for our horses. Genesee Valley Equine Clinic provides specialized routine medical care and we are located only 1.5 hours from Cornell University's Equine Hospital for any special needs. Ron Forbes, our Master Farrier, has a longstanding relationship with our horses and Heartwood Farm.
