June 22: vacation’s eve
What a busy day. We were on the move from the time we got up in the morning on this the day before we leave on our vacation. In fact, as I type this, I can’t remember what all we did any more. Ok, I think I remember now. We started out early with my dentist appointment at 7am. Then Jada brought the girls to me for her dentist appointment. We did get our mail stopped at the post office as well as shipping off a box of stuff for mom and dad and 90 post card stamps for all the writing we’ll be doing this summer. If you haven’t gotten one yet, just hang on a bit. It’ll probably be coming soon. We almost couldn’t stop the mail because we’ll be gone more than 30 days. Luckily, the person checked with his manager, and they allowed it. From there, we went to see Gramma. Unfortunately, she had just gotten up. She wasn’t at her best, but we stayed for an hour and a half so the girls could talk to her. We wished her well for the time we’ll be gone, and headed off on our next errand. We stopped by a friend’s house to drop off a jacket that Jada had found at school belonging to one of her girls. She graciously offered to keep Phoebe for the afternoon to play with her daughter that is Phoebe’s same age. Jada and I took Ellen home where she was a big help getting things together. While we were doing that, Phoebe tried sushi with her friends. She said she really liked the octopus. That kid is so picky, yet she’s trying octopus. I dropped Scarlett off at her surrogate owner’s house for the summer. She’ll like it. More room to move. I did some test packing of the car and the box to figure out where things can best go. I think we’ll be fine, but I’m sure there will be some things we’ll be shoving in the car in the morning. Then Jada had a doctor’s appointment where she found out she likely has bronchitis. So we got some meds for that, and she ended her day getting a massage. We’re very excited. I hope we can sleep tonight because we’ve got a long drive tomorrow.
