My GGGGGGrandpa Frederick.
He is recognized by NSDAR as Frederick RICE as a 1776 Revolutionary Soldier in Bedford Co., Pennsylvania.
In 1778, Frederick & Sarah (DeWITT) ROYSE were married in Hampshire County, VA now WVA. They moved west.
Their children were CAPT. John W. ROYSE (who married Hannah (Stacy)), Hannah Kelly ROYSE (who married PVT. Aaron TIPPS and ? CAMPBELL), PVT. William ROYSE (who married Martha "Mary" McGUIRE), PVT. Martin B. ROYSE (who married Catherine EVANS), PVT. Gabriel ROYSE (who married Sarah Ann "Sally" (Whortel or McWhorter), Sarah ROYSE (who married PVT. Levi A. Nugent), Lydia "Liddy" ROYSE (who married PVT. Elijah VANLANDINGHAM and ? SCOTT), Rebecca ROYSE (who married PVT. Barnibus MCFALL) Elizabeth Betsey ROYSE (who married William EDMONDSON), PVT. Benjamin Royse (who married Nelly LOFTON), and many grand+children.
Fredericksburg, is the town in Washington County. It was first settled in 1805 and called Bridgeport, apparently for a bridge here. It was laid out in 1815 by Frederick Royse and named for him.
