At outbreak of Civil War enlisted Co C 9th Texas Infantry.  Served east of
Mississippi River, wounded battle of Shiloh.  Taken prisoner, held in St Louis
five months, exchanged and allowed to return home.  When recovered from wounds
enlisted in Col Bourland's regiment, served on the frontier of Texas to the end
of the war. After marriage made home in Chambersville Community. 10 children, 3
died in infancy.
