The present Battle Ground patch was placed in service in 1989. The crossed tomahawks represent the Battle of Tippecanoe which was fought on November 7th 1811. The tomahawks are placed behind the monument that was erected in 1908 and was dedicated to the men who were killed in this battle. The American forces were led by Governor William Henry Harrison, who became the 9th President of the United States. The Battle of Tippecanoe all but ended the Indian wars in the Mid West. The Battle Field is a National Historic land mark, which has a museum and recreation area which is located on approximately 20 acres.
