NFL Draft           2008 Draft Player Analysis

Text Box: OG Rank 6	Rating 3.7
Chad Rinehart

Ht: 6-5	Wt: 311

Analysis

Rinehart is tough and intelligent with prototypical size. He was a 2007 Academic All-District and All Conference selection and a team captain. Although he started at tackle during his time at Northern Iowa, his lack of speed on the edge will force him to move inside at the next level. He started all 13 games at left tackle in 2007 and was Associated Press FCS 1st Team All-American. He helped guide the Panthers to a perfect 11-0 regular season and a No. 1 national ranking for six weeks. Rinehart started every game in 2006 and 2005 and was 1st Team All-Gateway Conference both years; he was also 2nd Team Associated Press All-American in ’06. In 2004, Rinehart started 5 of 8 games at left tackle; he missed 3 games in the middle of the season after undergoing an appendectomy. He redshirted in 2003. Rinehart has no injury concerns. A powerful run blocker, who easily drives defenders off the ball, Rinehart moves fairly well in space. It might take him some time to catch up to the speed of the NFL, but he had a solid showing Senior Bowl week against some of the nation's best. In conclusion, Rinehart lacks ideal quickness, and while he may have not faced elite competition at the college level, his skills as a powerful blocker were clearly evident on film. He will develop into a fine player and future starter in the NFL.
