Analysis
McFadden possesses a rare combination of size, speed and strength. He has produced outstanding results against top notch competition despite the Hogs lack of a strong vertical passing attack. He has the ability to outrun or run over defenders. His explosion, acceleration and vision are in the elite category. He shows patience waiting for blocks to develop, is decisive in his cuts, and displays great balance after contact. From a durability standpoint he has benefited from sharing carries with Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis. Unlike many other top running back prospects, he has not been worn down. Like most featured backs, he will need work on his pass blocking technique. He is an effective receiver out of the backfield, has the ability to return kicks, and even play QB on short yardage and goal-line situations. McFadden is a hard worker, team leader and academically sound. He rushed for 4,871 yards and averaged nearly 10 yards per carry at Pulaski Oak Grove HS in Arkansas where he also starred in baseball and track. I expect McFaddens’ impact to be comparable to Adrian Petersons’ accomplishments as a rookie. On April 26th, McFadden will deservedly be the most sought after running back to come out of the SEC Conference since Bo Jackson.
