NFL Draft           2008 Draft Player Analysis

Text Box: OT Rank 3	Rating 1.8
Jeff Otah
Ht: 6-6	Wt: 339

Analysis

Otah is massive with long arms and a huge frame. In 2007, he started at left tackle in every game. He helped pave the way for Freshman Tailback LeSean McCoy to gain over 1,300 yards. In 2006, Otah started all 12 games at left tackle protecting the front-side of southpaw QB Tyler Palko. Otah attended Valley Forge Military Academy in 2004 – 2005 while refining his skills as an offensive tackle. In fact, he was named MVP of the Seaboard Conference. He came to the US from Nigeria when he was seven years old and did not play football until his senior year of high school. He started on the Valley Forge basketball team, averaging 19 points and 12 rebounds per game. Otah is still learning the leverage aspect of the position but has improved his technique as a senior. He does not always maximize his blocking angles and will occasionally bend at the waist in pass protection. Otah has the power and leg drive to be a force in the running game. He has shown consistent improvement with his footwork over his career and shows impressive athleticism despite his enormous frame. Otah’s endurance is somewhat of a concern as he tends to play a bit sloppy late in games. In conclusion, Otah may begin his career as a right tackle, but he has the athleticism and wingspan to eventually make the transition to left tackle. He is an unfinished product with tremendous NFL potential.
