E - Notation | ||||||||||||
A number written in scientific notation has two parts: the base number and 10 with an exponent. The base number should have one digit before the decimal point, and the exponent of ten should be an integer. Either may be positive or negative. For simplicity, numbers in scientific notation can be written in "E-notation". The base number is followed by a capital E, which is followed by the exponent of ten. The ten itself is omitted.
