Just found this site. I am a Carmichael on my mother's side. Unfortunately off the top of my head I cannot contribute much at this time but who knows as I research more... you never know. All I can remember is that my maternal grandfather was Scottish and served in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry during WW2, that and of course my grandmother's name Dorethy Margret Carmichael nee Dutton

Daniel W. Ingalls   07/Nov/1998:07:33:10
You did a fine job. Hi I am Patty Carmichael's brother. Today was the first time I have been in your families web pages, and genealogy. But I must must inform you that the spelling of Patty's maiden name is wrong. It is I-N-G-A-L-L-S. I do not have a homepage made as of yet, but plan on doing so. I just compleded my geneology and found out that the Ingalls go back to 1629 in Lynn,Ma. They came on the second wave after the Plymouth rock landing! Again! Kool site!

John A. McCall   30/Oct/1998:09:58:50
That was an enjoyable debate on 29 Oct 1998 about the use of great and grand as titles of our ancestors. I will be mailing you the chart I mentioned in the discussion. Regardless of which term is used, when talking to other researchers we need to establish the facts to determine that we would be talking about the same person. John A. McCall

Carole Lamerson   12/Sep/1998:05:38:01
This is great. A very well done site. I am g'granddaughter of Ida Belle Carmichael and through her, trace back to Duncan and Archibald Carmichael of Lanark in the 1750's. The brothers came to America through North Carolina. Duncan is my "direct" ancestor. I am tracing side branches and attempting to find their records in Scotland so as to trace their parents (and back!). Again, great site! It has given me some idea of what to strive for as I build my own page. Thanks for your work!

Dennis Hultzapple   03/Jul/1998:20:01:08
Noticed what I believe is a small mistake. Got to your site via the Surnames Springboard Soundex index. I am researching the Holzapfel name and was interested to see the index show "Holzaphel"-- a variant I hadn't seen before. But the names I could find were all "Holzapfel". Is this simply a mistake or are there indeed "Holzaphel"s?-- Thanks for your time! --- Denny Hultzapple

Willouise Carmichael   02/Jul/1998:07:29:30
I really enjoyed your web site. My grandfather died when I was very young and my dad died when I was 23 so I don't know too much about our family and am really interested. My granddad used to laugh and say there were originally 7 Carmchael brothers that came over from Scotland and that they were so ugly when they got to Wilmington, NC that made them go to diff. parts of the country! Don't guess this was true since my grandad and dad were both good looking men.
