Hello! I am trying to do some research on a Joseph Firmstone who appears to have been in England around 1827-1830. I have some pencil
drawings signed by him and am curious to know more about him. I saw that you had a Joseph Firmstone on your family tree but the years
wouldn't match up. Just wondering if maybe there is some connection or if you have heard of having an artist in the family tree...

Also, I am greatly impressed by your site. I am somewhat into genealogy myself and have hopes that some day I can put what info I have on my web site...so far I've not got much there but am just learning how to put one together.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi! I guess we are cousins and at one time we have probably met in our earlier days. My dad is Larry Kryger your mom's brother. He just told me about this home page and it is wonderful. I have printed it off to show the rest of the family who is not online. Do you have a family tree that shows who the children of those in the genology are? I live in Lansing Michigan and am the Purchasing Manager/Installation Coordinator for a software development company. My sister Christine lives in Woodhaven and is the manager of a Nursing Home Services company.

You are lucky to be Linda's Hubby. And by the looks of it she is lucky to have you too. I am much impressed! I'm sure I will be back to your site, many times over. It is an inspiration to me, for mine. I have been wondering how to address the whole work in progress, as it covers so many divergent lines. Researching: ROGERS, YORK, HAWORTH, BEESON, VANE, MALET: GARDNER, McLAIN, LEEMAN, PHILLIPS, NEVITT, PEAK, NOE, BEAM, BEALL, MAGRUDER, STALLINGS, HALL AND SWEENEY. For now, anyway. My site has mostly pictures. We are fortunate to have so many nice ones. There is a page for ROGERS/ HAWORTH-YORK / SWEENEY-STALLINGS / PHILLIPS - PEAK/ You all stop by now and let me know if you find anything of interest there!!! I make many connections through coincidence

Carl DeSantis   03/Jun/1999:06:26:13
I enjoyed my glimpse at your website, which I arrived at by searching "DeSantis" on Webcrawler. My father's people are from Calabria, the south Italy province, from a village called Bonefate (sp?). My father is 90 years old and his name is Rubino (not Rubin or Reuben); he came to America in 1929; he had no brothers but had five sisters, some like him being given unusual first names: Dora, Alva, Geiseeia, Argentina and Adeline. He lost touch with them after most (or all) of them married and emigrated to South America. His father, Enrico, died in Italy; he had an uncle, Adolf, who settled in the Adirondeck Mountains. Adolf had one child, Hyrum(sp?), and Hyrum had three children including one son Robert who lives in San Francisco. I have no siblings. Perhaps some of this might be helpful or just interesting to you. Carl DeSantis

Congratulations on a very impressive site! You've done a marvellous job and I really enjoyed exploring your pages. My own site is very basic and still under construction (due to the fact that I don't know what I'm doing!!). I have quite a bit of CARMICHAEL info. in a database found on my Homepage. An interesting fact is that not all CARMICHAEL'S came from the same origins. There is a branch of CARMICHAEL'S (mine are of this line) who Anglicized their Gaelic surname to CARMICHAEL around 1800. The original form being "Macgillimichael" or "Macmichael." My branch resided in Saddell -&- Skipness parish in Argyll in the 1770-1830 period. They later relocated to Greenock and then on to Canada (Co. Bonaventure, Quebec). Check "Black's Surnames of Scotland" for further information on this form of the name which is totally unconnected to the Clan Carmichael.

Mark Smith 25/Mar/1999:08:53:12
Dear Carmichael family,
Although not much interested in tracing ancestors, etc myself, I was very interested to see your researches into the family "Firmstone" on your wonderful web page while I was searching the web for any information on one Thomas Firmstone, Ironmaster in Staffordshire, England in the nineteenth century. I have an interest in Thomas Firmstone because he constructed one of the first independent mineral railways from the Grand Junction Railway in the 1830s. A friend of mine,
David Dyble, who is an expert on the histories of the industries of Apedale, a hotbed of the industrial revolution, has in recent weeks amassed a great deal of information on Thomas Firmstone. His interest started due to Firmstone having taken a lease on an ironworks and several coalmines in Apedale in 1824. Clearly Firmstone became a wealthy and very influential man, being listed among the "gentry" section of directories I have browsed which was pretty unusual for an industrialist, and bet
