Laurent |

I am tracing my family tree. My Great Grandfather came
from scotland in 1854 his name was Lawrence Carmichael there is no record of his name on
any passenger list but his brother Andrew is on the passenger list of the Fulwood. I know
Lawrence is the son of Andrew Carmichael born 1805 and Agnes Brown also born 1805 they
married 19 November 1820 in Dysart, Fife, Scotland and had 7 Children Henry, John, Janet,
Mary, Andrew, Margaret Stewart, and Lawrence. I would appreciate any information. Thankyou Lynette Carmichael Fairey ljfairey@yahoo.com.au or ljc_8456@hotmail.com |

Hello Matt, are you the famous Matt of the web site? if
you are , you are to be highly commended for all your work. I noticed your response to different people on the genealogy forum. There has been alot of discussion on Mary Sikes and Samuel Carter. Our James Washington Carmichael out of Bienville Parish, Louisiana is most likely not the son of this Mary. Her children were living in his house in the 1850 census, they do carry carmichael given names. However, my aunts did genealogy when it was very difficult and not high tech starting back into the 1950's. They went to every source imaginable from records to rest homes to churches and wrote in hand. They have indicated the parents could be William and Nancy Columbus out of Georgia. Also that James Washington had a sister named Mary Carmichael. The Mary everyone talks about could have been an aunt, a sister, a cousin. She is not the mother. We are trying very dilligently to prove parentage for James Washington because |

Thanks for an excellent MacMurchy resource! My name is James G. Galloway. My mother is Verna Louise MacMurchy (b.1932, Egbert, Ont.). She is the daughter of Donald Bell MacMurchy (of MacMurchy Settlement). She currently lives in Brantford, Ont. (married to William G. Galloway). She has read through the info on the 1941 reunion in King Township. She claims however that this took place earlier, perhaps 1939, or 40. She recalls attending with her family as a child, and recalls that her younger sister Margaret (Patterson - who is 7 years younger, and currently lives in London, Ont.) was at most 1yr old (making the reunion 1941). Could it have been a 100 year anniversary? J. Galloway Guelph, Ont. |

Hello! I am reading your terrific webpage "Carmichael Family OnLine" and want to say first how well done it is-- informative, readable, and useful to non-Carmichaels also :) I don't know if this is the right forum for my tidbit, but I will give it to you in case it will help somebody. I just heard from an older MacDougall relative in Ontario that the Will of Dugald McDougall who d: 10 MAR 1874 in Biddulph, mentions an "adopted daughter Mary Blue" who inherits many household furnishings in lieu of money. I noticed the Mary Blue in Scotland on your page and I know Blue is an immigrant name, so perhaps someone will recognize this Mary or will have been looking for her. I have no age for her, but do know that Dugald and family lived in Blanshard from 1855-1872ish, so she may be listed in his household on the Ontario 1871 census, which would give her age. My Wheeler/Mac-McDougall database is online here: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=wheeler |

Hi, Do you konw anyone who does genealogy about Carmichael-family in British Columbia, Canada, or has something info. My fathers cousin Tyyne Maria Altin (born March 5. 1898, Wellington, B.C.)married Oct. 16. 1915 in Ladysmith, B.C., Gordon Burns Carmichael (born 14 March 1892 in Nanaimo B.C.). Tyyne Maria was only 17 years old when they got married and died five years later to tuberculosis Aug. 16. 1920. I would like to know if they had any children and descendants in Canada. I suppose that Gordon Burns remarried after her death. Tyyne Maria was a daughter of Maria Kosola and Juho Altin, both from Finland. If you can help I would be pleased. I've just started to research, my grandfather was Frank Carmichael, estimated date of birth is March 1886. Unsure if he was born in Ireland, some stories that he lived in Ontario for a while. He travelled to the Northwest Territories (NT) and settled in Aklavik, NT, Canada around 1925. He died in 1970 in Aklavik. If anyone has information that may be helpful, please e mail. I enjoyed your site and hope to contribute in the future so we can have a site for the Northwest Territories.

I do not know if you can help me or not, but I thought
that it was worth a try. I am looking for my bilogical father. His name is James Edward
Carmichael. I was born in Kalamazoo, MI in April of 1967. He was living in the same area,
and I have been told that he has at least 2 other children - one a son who may also be
named James Carmichael. My mother believes that he had a sister that married a Native
American. All of this information is based on events of over 30 years ago. When I saw that
you have done extensive research in Michigan, I thought that maybe you have come across
something over the years. His name was never on my birth certificate, so there are no
adoption records for me to search. All I have is word of mouth, and about a thousand James Carmichael's in the phone book.... Any assistance you may be able to provide would be most appreciated. Thank you. |

Hi all Carmichaels! My husband's (Elton's) branch of the
Carmichael family lives in Swaziland, in Southern Africa and began when his grandfather (I
forget his name) came here from Scotland. There are now numerous Carmichaels in Swaziland;
in a country dominated by the ruling family, the Dlaminis, the Carmichaels have a definite
presence! Most of them are of mixed blood, have intermarried right from the start with African people. The original Carmichael here, my husband's grandfather, married a woman from Mozambique of the Tonga tribe. Many Carmichaels now have shown an international "tendency" in the other direction, marrying Portuguese, Germans, Italians, and even, in my case, Canadians - a very interesting, "global" family, which I'm very proud to belong to! Great site, am now in touch with cousin on the West Coast that I have not been in touch with for 50+ years. Great grandfather Archibald came from Glasgow about 1840, settled in Tracadie, Prince Edward Island. Am looking for connection with a Robert Carmichael, suspect he is a brother. They jointly became heirs in 1879 to farm land from a Robert who had died intestate(?). My prior research shows Archibald's parents to be Ronald and Mary Campbell, no mention of a Robert being a sibling.

hi, well, get ready for this one! my family lineage
begins with David Carmichael, a bastard son of a Scottish slave/ land owner Carmichael and
a slave in Texas. David married an American Indian named Pomalo. three to four generations later was my grandmother Bernina, also American Indian, and African American mixed, who married a Carmichael, hence my mother Edna Louis Carmichael, born 1922, from Texas, died 1990. i am the last of the line, and to top it off, was adopted. but i am proud of my name, and my heritage. i hope to write finish a book of these incredible Carmichael women. they were strong, independant, successful, and true examples of living grace. thanks for the great site! oh, another little coicedence.... when i was 7 years old, new to a private girl's school in Potomac, Maryland, my first baby-sitter was Ceci Carmichael, of a caucasian family, but of direct scottish Carmichael lineage. cool, no? kind regards to all, erika |

I don't know if you respond to emails or not. You have a
wonderful site. I am specifically interested in the Kryger site. My great grandfather came
from Slesvig, Gram, Denmark in 1880.His name was Anders Jorgen Kryger. He was born in 1857
in Denmark. I have extensive information about his wife, Kjestine Maire Lund,(daughter of
Thomas Lund and Dorthea Marie (Dora)Dam) but I can't find anything on the Kryger name. Given that he is from the same region as the Krygers on this site, I am wondering if he is related? I don't have the name of his parents. He and Kjestine knew each other in Denmark and got married in Sheffield ,Pennsylvania in 1880. Do you have someone in the Kryger family that I can contact? Hi, my name is Dawn Paterson, I am the great grand
daughter of James Carmichael. My James was born in Elderslie, Dunbartonshire (according to
an interview with him in 1918). Other records record his place of birth as
"Elderslie" Renfrewshire. He came to New Zealand in 1961, married and lived out
his life here. I have been unable to find any Scottish connections for him. He has to be
someones son, someones brother. I wonder if you might have a connection to him. Here in
New Zealand he worked as a driver for Cobb -&- Co, with many notable firsts to his
credit. He also owned a farm in an area close to Dunedin. Family 'stories' tell us that he
was a gentleman driver in the old country. You have a wonderul web site, thankyou for the opportunity to make contact. Regards Dawn. |
