Comments:	your site is great i've enjoyed every minute here and going to to tell my family all about it.I was born 09/10/1973 in Kapuskasing Ont.Son of Patrick Emerson Carmichael born 03/06/1948 in Sudbury Ont. Son of Emerson G Carmichael born in Halibury Ont.(1923)and left us in i think (1988)son of Emerson Carmichael born in Copper Cliff Ont.(18--)and passed away about (1976) in Sudbury.His wife name Was Gladys (nee) Sutherland. To what I,ve been told Emerson's brother Robert had a son Robert Ralph Carmichael who was the artist who painted the original picture of the loon that is on the one doller coin if you look under its bill you will see the initials R.R.C. that is where my trail goes cold if you or anyone could help me further I would be thrilled.Coul'd you also tell me where The name Emerson came from. my father told me once that a gr gr uncle on the Sutherland side that the rest of family thought was crazy had gathered 2 of 3 items one being coat of arms to lay claim to royalty it's said he had found where to get the last but died befor he could obtain it. noone ever followed his footsteps.like i said they thought he was nuts.If it's true how would I go about to aquire those objects.thanks for the time well spent,take care all you Carmichael's out there,"because they lived so shall we."

I am trying to find the parents of John Carmichael, born in Glengarry, Scotland in 1845, died 8th July 1900. He was married to Mary Thomas , born Castlemaine 1849 and died 21st February 1932, aged 83 years. My Mum whose was Gwendolyn Alice Mary Carmichael ,began this quest some years before her death from Cancer 1oth April 1992and I, Caroline Patricia (Tink) Moore has inherited the quest. Mae Elizabeth Curry, both came thru Ellis Island early 1900's. My father had told me that the family was part of the resettlement in Ireland. My grandmother was from county Cork. David McNab Carmichael had many brothers and sisters who settled all over. Sadie Carmichael & brother Rolf Carmichael in Australia, another in South Africa, Albert Carmichael came to USA. The link to the page I am referring to is Donald Leroy Routley was born July 4, 1954, married to Linda Christine OpDendries, born February 21, 1956. Donald had a daughter named Kristen Rae Artiste Sharpe, whose mother was Sheila Sharpe prior to his marriage to my other. I don't know when either were born. I am Jodi Leigh Routley, born December 28, 1978. On October 4, 1998, I gave birth to Amethyst Rose Tuttle-Routley. Her father's name is Mark Gordon Tuttle (born January 9, 1979) whose father is Gordon (?) Tuttle, and mother's name is Gwendolyn Mary Tuttle (nee Dorcas). On November 8, 2000, I gave birth to another daughter, Eve Sapphire Iris Routley. Her father's name is Russell Lorne Scoble. I am unsure as to his parent's names. David Sean Routley, my younger brother, was born on January 19, 1980. On August 8, 2002, his daughter Chloe Isabella Routley, was born to him and Angela Gladu, whose DOB I am unsure of. I am wondering if this couple fits into your family, James McMurphy married Isabel Gilchrist July 26 1806 at Kilcalmonell and Kilberry, Argyll, Scotland. I believe McMurphy may have been McMurchie. I am researching a Donald (Mc)Murchie born about 1810 on the Isle of Arran to James McMurchie born about 1780. They emigrated to Megantic County Quebec Canada about 1831. Apparently on Arran, the Murchie surname may have also been known as Murphy...just to make researching them more difficult no doubt. I don't know James' wife name. Have you had any evidence of the McMurchies from Argyll moving to the Isle of Arran?

Comments:	My name is Tim Carmichael and I am a native of Syracuse, NY but currently residing in Madison, NJ (suburban NYC). I don't presently have all the details of the past at hand but can say that my family has resided in the Central New York area for at least 100+ years. My grandfather, Daniel E. Carmichael (recently deceased) would be about 100---his wife Katherine is still alive (95?). They had three children----Meredith, Carol, and Daniel John (my father). Daniel married my mother, Barbara Harrington of Syracuse, NY and had five children----twins Tom and Tim (me), followed by three daughter----Kelly, Carrie, and Kristin. Barbara is deceased but everyone else is alive. Dan has remarried (Kay) and resides in Inlet, NY. Tom married another Kelly and has three children----Katie, Sara, and Brian. Comments:	Hello Matt, Visited your website for the first time. Great place to look for info. You have given much time to your research. I appreciate your contribution to my Carmichael line, My great-grandfather is Amos Worley Carmichael. I have letters written by Charlotte Anthony Carmichael during the 1930's and just before her death in 1942. I also have letters from their daughter Cora Carmichael. Do you have contact with anyone from this line? If so could you put me in touch with them? I would like to exchange information with that family line. I have a great picture of Charlotte Anthony. The letters from both Charlotte and Cora give good insight into their personalities. I would love to share these letters with others of that specific Carmichael line. Comments:	I'm actually a kiwi (New Zealander) who lives in the States now. My family lines are Logans, Clarke, McIvers (Northern Ireland) Ennis (Dublin) Murphys from New Foundland, and Lyons from Australia, which has been the hardest and still original family not found. I realize for you, you are mainly tracing back from people in the States but there is actually a good sight in NZ that has a good search engine with it that lists a Logan from Ayershire. The site is Denise and Peters Our Stuff scroll down to where it reads Atomz for the search engine and just put in Logan. I tried Carmicheal for you out of interest and one young girl came up from Scotland who was a domestic servant 1870. My Logans came from the Newtonards area of Northern Ireland. I'm gradually tracing them back to where they came over from Scotland. There is a cluster of Logans buried at Bangor Abbey in the Bangor area of Belfast in Northern Ireland . My Logans are tied in with Irwins, Moore's MacIntosh, Hamiltons and Fletchers in Ireland. With people that went to NZ quite often you know they went there, but you can't find them.. In many cases the ship stopped in Australia first and people got off there, sometimes they stayed, and sometimes they actually got another ship to NZ. So then you have to find them on a vessel between Aust and NZ which is difficult at times. The last comment I have for you is that its easy to get discouraged but in the case of my grandfathers family, on my fathers side I had looked into his family for years. No luck. All I had to go on was a marriage certificate and an old seamans log book. I contacted the Memorial University of New Foundland which has a Maritime Museum and one of the largest repositories of crew agreements of British registered ships. . If you have the name and date of the ship, for a fee of course, they will send you the crew agreement. I did this and found that they had my grandfathers birthtown down wrong..It had been put in wrong on the agreement and carried over to the seamans log book. So we had been looking in the wrong town. Just over two years ago I had posted a message on one of those forums in New foundland. This past year out of the blue someone replies. My grandfather had had a sister and stepsister. The sister had eventually come to the Boston area with her son. He had eventually married and had a family. This family has been living about 30mins from me for years. We're 2nd cousins. Haven't met all the brothers and sisters yet. One of the brothers children even went to the same high school as my children did at the same time , weird!! Happy ending, just wish my dad could have been around to meet these people also. Thank you for your site, I appreciate your hard work. My daughters best friend is now a Carmicheal living in the Carolinas.

Comments:	Matt, I do have information about Emily Carmichael on down, she was my gggrandmother. Some of it is a little sketchy(a divorce). Emily married Manoah P. Harris(he served in the Ohio 125th volunteers, The Opdycke Tigers in the civil war, even though they lived in IL)about 1859. They had 6 children, William, Mary P., Addie A., Wilford B., John Clarence, and Minnie Ella. Minnie is my ggrandmother, she married and divorced Leo Jackson Wilson (dead end, so far), they had two children Albert(Bert) and Madge Marie, my grandmother. Madge was born in Lewis, Cass Co., Iowa in 1898, she married Walter Fern Engle(an absolutly huge undertaking genologically)on Feb 8, 1917, they had three children, Bernice, Lela, and Freddy R.(my dad). Both of my grandparents lived to the ripe old age of 91.

Comments:	I have read your history on the McMurchy family and as far as I can tell, we are decendents of John MacMurchy and Grace Blue. My great grandfather, Archibald McMurchy was born in Scotland in 1847 and imigrated to Canada in the 1840's or 50's and grew up in the Elgin County, ON area. He and his family moved to Reston, MB in 1901. My grandfather was Archibald A. McMurchy, born in 1875 and passed away in 1957. My father, Franklin C. , the third child and second son, was born in 1911 and passed away in 1965 of cancer. The last of my father's siblings passed away in October, 2003. While I have not done too much geneaology research, I am at the present time contacting my aunts (uncle's wives) and cousins to obtain information on their families.
