Don't know death date, but found him in the 1930 Census. Married (1) Nona Belle Blackorby (d. 1917) & (2) Anna (unknown, from Norway). Son of Charles and Nona is Van Allen Carmichael, b. 1898 in Cando, d. 1994, North Carolina. Van Allen was a dentist. He lived from the 1920's to at least 1957 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. He married (1) Queenie Bourreau (d. 1924), (2) Miriam Dolores Webb (d. 1957), & (3) Bertha (d. 2002, unknown surname). Son of Van and Queenie is Allen Duncan Carmichael, b. 1922 in Chicago. After his mother's death, Allen went to live with his grandfather, Charles Carmichael in Cando. web site and wondered if there is a link between your family and my husband's. He is
descended from Elizabeth Bell Margaret McMurachy, daughter of James Archibald (b. 19 Jan
1826, Ontario) and Mary McEachern (b. 28 Dec 1834, England). James Archibald's father is
James McMurachy. I have no information about him but it is possible that he is the same
James McMurachy listed in the IGI (19 FEB 1806 Campbell Town, , Argyll, Scotland). Although they seem to have come from Canada before your family, they also came from Campbeltown. I also notice the similarity between the name McEachern (our name) and McEachran (your name) that might possibly relate to the same family. This family lived in Ontario (known as York back then), and then moved to Hamiota, Manitoba in the 1880s. Anyway if you have any information that might help I would be most grateful. |
