These are the latest pictures of Old St Peters Cemetery, which is located in Taylor Twp of Harrison Co, Indiana. The cemetery was unfortunately bulldozed over the side of the hill back in about 1964. It eventually became overgrown, but was cleared again in 1999. I have visited this cemetery on numerous occasions, the most recent being January 21, 2002, when I did some work on it.
Some of the pics are black and white, for lower graphics. The first one is of the cemetery, looking northeast, from the dirt road. The second picture is of the stones that have been found so far, laying in a fresh 3" snowfall. Picture three is of the area I cleared off next to the existing concrete pad put in by Jack Briles. The fourth picture shows the 16"-square blocks I laid down. In Picture five, we had moved all found stones to the blocks we laid, including a grave marker still attached to it's base, the only one found in such condition so far. In Picture six, is a close-up shot of the above said marker. In the seventh and last picture is a shot of the group of marker bases found so far. There are over twenty of them in all. So far, only parts of about a dozen markers have been found, so chances are, there are more buried under dirt that was pushed off over the side of the hill.
