Samuel Cope was living in Richmond County, North Carolina in the late-1700's. DNA research shows he was related to Oliver Cope of Pennsylvainia, as well as William Cope of Hawkins Co, Tennessee. He had a number of children, one being George Washington Cope, who migrated to Alabama in the early 1800's, then on to Texas. Samuel was born in North Carolina between 1770 & 1774 and he died in 1843 in Pike, Bullock County, Alabama. He was married to Elizabeth Everitt.
