Germany Trip

2003

7th September

Visited the castle of Neuschwantstein. This was one of three castles started by King Ludwig II, and is the castle that Disney portrayed for Sleeping Beauty. Also located nearby, is the castle of Hohenschwangau. We took the carriage up to Neunschwanstein, and toured the castle. It was started in 1869, but never finished. The tour was short, and expensive, although the view from the castle walls and windows were great. No picture taking is allowed inside, however.

Next was the church at the small town of Wies. Very picturesque, with the alps hovering overhead. Next is the palace at Linderhof. This place has Neunschwanstein beat in beauty. Although the interior is quite over done in the French style, the gardens were great. This is another of King Ludwig's buidlings, and it actually was completed.

We then returned to Wartach, by way of Austria. We stopped briefly at Plantsee, before getting back in time to visit a local Italian restaurant.
