The Cayman Islands

(and yes, there really is a Hell there)

It is found on Grand Cayman Island, British West Indies, in the Caribbean Sea.

Hell even has its own post office, complete with a resident devil and T-shirts for sale that are guaranteed to be conversation starters wherever you wear them.

Hell is located on the northern part of Grand Cayman, but you might have a hard time finding it because someone (a tourist no doubt) is always stealing the street sign that points to it - go figure.

Once you get there, you will know it. The neat white government post office is the center of the community, and there are a couple of gift shops right next door. Don't trip over the chickens wandering around the parking lot on your way to the post office to send postcards (imagine the thoughts of someone getting a postcard from ... Hell). Not what usually comes to mind when you think of hell: eternal damnation, all-consuming fires, screaming souls, that former boss, ex-spouses, etc., etc.

The post office will have everything you need to send postcards from Hell (in fact they seem rather bored by the whole thing, but hey, living in Hell can get stressful at times), including stamps and a decent postcard selection. There is more variety in the souvenir stands adjacent, and that is where all of the T-shirts, etc., are located. You can get everything from a refrigerator magnet to a notepad to a pen emblazoned with Go to Hell, I've Been to Hell, Hello From Hell or variations on that theme. The choices can be a little overwhelming, actually.

Other than that, there's not a lot to do in Hell (and yes, it can be hotter than you-know-what there) except stroll around the area, get stared at by the locals as you stare at them, gawk at some of the funky rock formations (a type of distressed/eroded limestone) and revel in the Caribbean ambiance of the place. There are cold drinks at the souvenir stands, at typically inflated Cayman prices, to cool off with after your stroll, which you can enjoy on one of the government-issued wooden benches on the shady front porch of the post office.

All in all, a pleasant little day trip from the Seven Mile Beach area - and you really can say, at the end, that you've been to Hell and back.
