IMPORTANT: Use only microwavable fabrics and yarns.
I took a picture of my neck pillow. It’s dark so you can’t really tell, but it’s actually sewn horizontally down the middle starting about 1” from the inside end seam and ending about 1” inch from the other inside end seam so the contents can flow between sides (it must help maintain the shape). It is “stuffed” with flax seed and dried lavender to about ¾ full (it needs space so the shape can conform). The finished size is about 20” x 5”, which includes about 1” of fabric at the outside of each end seam (which is unstuffed) and the ribbon handles are sewn between the layers of fabric. I’d cut the fabric to about 21” x 10” to allow for hemmed edges. Of course, measurements don’t have to be exact, but the pillow I have does hang nicely. I hope my drawing will help clarify my “instructions” … it seemed confusing to me and I know what I mean! [Bev Tollefson <btollefson@e-cca.org>]
