General Information and Procedures on Build Days

To All Build Volunteers:

Our Build Day goal is not only to build safe, decent, and affordable homes, but also to make your experience fun and safe.   Please familiarize yourself with the items below and if you have any questions, please feel free to call Roy at 503-793-1815.

A.            Build Days

1.         Thursdays

a.       9am – 4pm

b.      Walk –ons.  Reservations not required, but appreciated.

2.         Saturdays

a.       9am – 4pm

b.      Reserved ahead of time and for Groups.

B.            Construction supervisor, Roy Powell, will be on-site at all times during Build Days.

1.          Inform Roy of any health issues.

2.          Roy will provide directions and tasks for each volunteer.

3.          If Volunteers are uncomfortable with any tasks, please inform Roy and he will provide an alternate task.

C.            Before Arriving at Build Site

1.         Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for a building site and weather.

2.         If you are a new volunteer, call Construction Supervisor before heading out to the job site to make sure you understand the process.

D.           At Build Site

1.    General

a.       Tools and materials are provided on-site.

b.      Lunch is provided.

2.          At Arrival

a.       Signing-in

1.          Adult Volunteers new to the job site are required to sign a Waiver form before work is started.

2.          Minors

a.            Children under 16 are not allowed to be on-site.

b.            Volunteers between the ages of 16-18 must be accompanied by a guardian and sign a    Waiver form before any work is started.

3.          If you are volunteering on behalf of a Habitat family, please write the Family’s name on the Sign-in sheet.

4.          If you are volunteering as a required by your school, state, etc., it is YOUR responsibility to document your time in the Sign-in sheet.

b.      Singing-out:  all Volunteers must sign-out.
