Can be set for a coarse cut it will reduce figured maple and very hard woods like rosewood and ebony, when you think you are close to finish thickness, finish to dimension with a fine set straight plane with rounded corners. A slight rounding of the corners of the plane iron stops digging in and spoiling your work. Finish off with a cabinet scraper. To make a toothing plane anneal the plane iron and file teeth and reharden or grind them in with a Dremel Moto tool.
