Make thin rosette materials with a jointer plane
Make thin rosette materials with a jointer plane and wetting the wood. The 0.03 mm strips in the Torres herring bone can be made using a hand plane. Use a very sharp jointer plane, first wetting the wood and letting the water soak in for a little while. Then with the plane iron set for a deep cut plane thin wood as in image. Great force is required.Basswood/linden or similar woods work good for planeing thin materials.
