Ward Lake I

back to Wilderness Backpacking and Camping
This compact Northern California wilderness area is strikingly similar to the Eagle Cap Wilderness in Northeast Oregon. (Here are other web pages of these spectacular areas.) Granite peaks and other geological features almost render these two wilderness enclaves as mirror images of each other.
On the Trail In
Hiking south along the Tri Forest Trail from Big Flat trailhead, then turning east onto the Ward Lake Trail about 3 miles in. The hike to the lake is another 2 or 3 miles.
