Southend-on-Sea

Leigh-on-Sea

Rayleigh is a small village with a downtown area of shops and tea rooms, located south of
Southend-on-sea.  There is a lovely 14th century church as well as an old wind mill dating from 1809.

View of Holy Trinity church from downtown.

Scrumptious looking meat pies in a shop window.

Typically, the old churches are accompanied by graveyards.

This list of Holy Trinity rectors dates from 1310!

Baptismal Font.  A pull chain lifts the heavy cover.

This Rood Stair led to the Rood Loft, which contained a large cross until it was removed in the reformation.

The graveyard is serene in the mid-day sun.

Tea shop on the main street.

Wesley Methodist church.
