Peggy's Gardening Efforts

Front / Back / Sideyard

Front Yard

Spring of 2005, we had a large fir tree removed from the side yard. Our neighbor also had a very large pine tree removed. Changed the climate totally! Now what to plant!
Summer of 2003, we ripped out the huge, overgrown Rhodies and replaced with several types of Hebes and Hydrangea. As a focal point, Cathy helped me plant a Japanese Snowbell tree. (Styrax)

Back Yard
Since we moved in (December 1989), the back yard has gone from tiny deck with blackberry vines and weeds on the entire hill, to the land of junipers to the present combination of perennials and evergreen shrubs. The cherry and dogwood trees were pruned and shaped by Don B. in 2003. What a difference that made! (Don - the Dogwood needs a little more trimming!)

Lavatera really grows fast!

Bonnie recommended the Lavatera (Bredon Springs) she has in her yard. I took a branch to Wells Medina summer 2004 and here it is in it's first year. Spring 2005 it is much bushier! Pass your cursor over the photo to see.

Built July 2005

Summer of 2005, we had the old rotten redwood timbers replaced with Roman Stackstones. What a difference! (Place cursor over image to see the steps)

Sideyard We had the tall fir tree removed Summer of 2005 and wanted to create a 3' high hedge to hide my agility weave poles from the neighbor's view. The climate on this side is now quite hot and sunny. This changes everything! Pass your cursor over the image to see the changes. I've added a Lavatera - Burgundy Wine Dwarf - and a Styrax that Mom and I were going to Bonsai. If they live, they get to stay!
