Computer glitch leads to confession

Computer glitch leads to confession (11/29/2003)

My computer was in a state of mortal corruption.  It started slowly and was hardly noticeable but the more I ignored it the worse it got.  It suffered glitches, would reboot out of nowhere, wouldn't perform specific operations, then I found out it had two or more different viruses.  I tried to fix it myself but to no avail.  The longer I let it go the larger the problem got.  I came to the conclusion that this was more than I could handle myself and the only one that could fix this was it's Creator (computer manufacurer).  I tried reaching them through the internet but I couldn't because of the corruption in the computer.  I finally realized the only way to reconcile this problem was to go directly to it's Maker.  In the box that the computer came were 3 discs, provided specially for this problem.  With some hesitation I placed it in the CD-rom, (I knew this was the right thing to do), closed the door, (I had never done this before, or it was a long time ago), placed my finger on the button, (I knew this is what it needed), and then I......pushed!  Well it didn't hurt near as much as I thought and my computer is completely clean, free of all viruses, running like new - fully reconciled.

Now I wonder if my family and friends from church were able to read between the lines?  If not, and for everyone else who is wondering "What in the world is she going on about?" let me enlighten you.   When we sin we are corrupting our souls.  Sometimes they are little sins but if you let it go long enough the 'little' sins turn in to 'big' ones and before you know it you are in a state of mortal sin.  This sin is what seperates you from Christ.  You can not get to Him with that sin on your soul.  This is not something we can "fix" ourselves.  To get rid of it you have to go to our Creator directly using the method (sacrament) He gave us.  He gave us the apostles and gave the apostles the ability, in His name, to forgive or not forgive (Jn 20:22-23).  The apostles have handed this down over the years in our church through our bishops and priests.  The sacrament of Reconciliation cleans and heals our souls.   It's not painful.  It's natural to be apprehensive if your going for the first time in a long time but you'll be glad you did and the more you go the easier it gets, and I bet your life will run smoother.

Now that my computer is clean, I have installed Norton Antivirus to help me keep it clean, and I am going to be careful of the web sites I go to and emails that I open.  In this way I can help avoid any more corruption.  In my own life I can look at how I am spending my time, who I am spending that time with, the books I am reading, the t.v. that I am watching, and many other things.  I can be careful to stay away from those things that may give me a virus or lead me to sin.
I really like the way my computer is running now that it has been purged of all corruption.   In the future I think I might start a regular routine of cleaning my computer as well as my soul.
