Robert G Ruby, age 81, went to be , with the Lord Friday, December 31,1999 following an extended illness. Robert George Ruby was born December 10, 1918 in Victory Township to George and Mary (Korn) Ruby, where he grew up and attended Banner School. He graduated from St. Simon's High School. He married Sophie L. Marek, on April 29, 1944 in Scottville and she survives. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a staff sergeant in the United States Army in the Coast Artillery and as a military policeman. Mr. Ruby owned and operated the family farn in Victory Township and was also employed as a rural mail carrier for the Ludington Post Office. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Victory. Bob was an avid amateur photographer. He chronicled many local events, especially at Sacred Heart Church in his early years. He will saddly missed by his beloved wife, Sophie, his son, George R. (and Linda) Ruby of Ludington, his daughters, Mrs. William (Roberta) Gillett and Mrs. James (Rita) Copenhaver, both of Ludington, and Mrs. William (Theresa) Newberry of Kalamazoo, his sisters,Mrs. Rosemary Sleak and Miss Ruth Ruby both of Muskegon, ten grandchildren, ten greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his extended family at Baywood, staff and residents. Mass of Christian burial from the Order of Christian Services will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis O'Donnell, celebrant. Internment will be in Pere Marquette Cemetary. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Monday at the Dorrell Funeral Home.Friends are invited to join the family on praying the rosary at 6:30 P.M. Memorials may be directed to Fr. Kevin O'Doherty's African Mission with envelopes available at the Dorrell Funeral Home.
