He drowned near Ile de St. Paul fleeing the Iroquois with Dollard des Ormeaux
On April 19, 1660, the Dollard troop had hardly left shore when there were cries coming from the Ile de Saint-Paul, opposite Montreal. The troop forced a party of Iroquois Indians to scatter into the woods. They were too late to save three Frenchmen who were the victims of this attack: Nicolas Duval had been killed, and Blaise Juillet and Mathurin Soulard had been drowned while trying to escape from the enemy.
Notary Gatineau drew up a marriage contract on 2/2/1651 at Trois Rivieres and another copy was deposited with Notary Ameau on 2/10/1651. He is the oldest of six children. His godparents were Blaise Maitre and Catherine Baudet. Blaise enlisted to go to Canada on 4/31/1644 at La Rochelle, to be paid 75 livres a year for three years.
Notary Teleuron drew up the contract for Jerome Le Royer de La Dauversiere, acting on behalf of the Compagnie Notre-Dame de Montreal.

She's on the 1666 Montreal censusShe was separated from her first husband in the winter of 1660. He had deserted her for a foolish escapade of Adam Dollard-Des-Ormeaux. She quickly remarried Hughes Picard dit LaFortune on 6/30/1660 after hearing of her husband's unruly demise.
Her family was from Beauvais, Picardy, France. She arrived in New France in 1650.
Her will was drawn up on 5/19.1702 by Notary Adhemar.
She was one of the Filles a Maurier.
