Married first filles du roi, Charlotte de la March 9/30/1669, at Quebec. She died 1671at Boucherville. Her dowry was 350, 50 was from King

Jacques left Paris when he was around twenty to enter into a three year contract with Pierre Boucher who was then Govenor at Trois-Rivieres, New France. Jacques arrived in the fall of 1666. Colonists of this ere were required to work 3 years before obtaining thier citizenship. Pierre Boucher relinquished his post to Renee Gaultier of Varennes toward the end of 1667. Jacques followed his master to Boucherville and then to Varennes in 1668 or 1669. His first established farm in the Seigneurie de Tremblay, belonging to Gautier de Varrennes, who married the daughter of Pierre Boucher.
Six monthe after his first wife, Charlotte de la Marche, died, he traveled back to Quebec in order to find another wife. In Quebec, he met a young 18 year old, Catherine Clerice. CAtherine was also a Filles Du Roi and had a dowry of more than 200 livres plus 50 livres from the King. Romain Becquet registered thier marriage contract on October 4, 1671. The religious ceremony took place on October 12, 1671 in the church of Notre Dame , Quebec. The newlyweds then traveled of the St. Lawrence to Varennes, where they made their home. Together they raised 12 children plu 1 from from Jacques first marriage. Jacques drowned in the St. Lawrence river on March 1713 and his body was found on June, 1713. Over his lifetime, he had amassed a considerable fortune for the early 1700's, some 3000 livres. He was a colonist/farmer.
In Old French, "l'huis" was the outer door of the lodging and the "l'huissier", the guardian of the door. Later the functions of l'huissier to the transmission and thereafter the execution of the orders of the sovereign or prince or thier representatives.
