"The Klapper, Doop I and Doop II contain records of eleven Ruys' baptisms
from 1593 to 1617. The eleven appeared to be the children of two
couples, a Conrardus and Anna or Joanna Ruys and a Christian and Cornelia
Ruys, the latter being the parents of Jan's wife Annetje (Anna) and her
brother Bartholomeus. There was one klapper record for which the full
record was missing, a Theodorus, baptized 5 April 1605. There was also
one record whose parents were indecipherable pertaining to a Johannes,
bapt. 23 April 1607.
The family of Christian and Cornelia Ruys is as follows:
Anna, bapt. 19 May 1602 (Annetje)
Leonardus, bapt. 12 Mar 1604
Bartholomeus, bapt. 11 Aug 1606
Cornelius, bapt. 13 Feb 1611
Christophorus, bapt. 15 Oct 1617
The family of Conrardus and Anna (listed once as Joanna) Ruys is as
follows:
Johannes (abbreviated Joes), bapt. 29 Aug 1593
Johanna, bapt. 3 Dec 1595
Conrardus, bapt. 29 Jun 1610
Nicolaus, bapt. 11 Aug 1613
Considering these dates it seems very likely that Theodorus and Joannes
were the children of Conrardus and Anna Ruys. Otherwise, there would be
a fifteen year gap between their children Johanna and Conrardus. It is,
of course, theoretically possible that either or both were children of
Christian and Cornelia but this seems unlikely." [per Ted Snediker,
