Oriental Dreamtime

mapchina.gif Toward the end of 1998, my wife Karen and I made a trip to China. We spent seventeen days visiting Beijing, capitol of the celestial empire, X'ian, the ancient capitol of China for eleven dynasties and Guilin, so beautiful, that it has inspired generations of Chinese artists and poets. The impressions of the trip will last a lifetime.

The Temple of Heaven was built in 1420. Emperors of the Ming Dynasty would come to pray for good harvest in Spring.

The X'ian City Wall was constructed in the Tang Dynasty and is over 7 miles long. A moat protects the perimeter.

The Lijiang River is described as having "water that winds like a jade ribbon behind hills like emerald hairpins".
